The International Association of Practising Accountants held its
Annual General Meeting in Athens Greece in October 2002. Representatives
from six U.S. member firms attended, including Clint Bateman. Clint
is currently President of the Americas Chapter of IAPA. The meeting
was held in the luxurious Inter-Continental Hotel in Athens, and was hosted
by IAPA member firm, Totalserve Management.
As is customary, a wonderful time was had by all delegates and guests. The
meeting was marked by honoring David A. Turnbull, the founder of IAPA and
the only Managing Secretary the organization has ever had. David will
retire on December 31, 2002, and will be ably replaced by Mark Hayward.
In addition to transacting important IAPA business and renewing business
contacts, the group took time out to visit historic ruins at Delphi and, of
course, the Acropolis in Athens. A full program of technical presentations
was also held.
After the meeting, Clint Bateman traveled onto London for a week, where
he visited clients and discussed client matters with Simon Linley and Richard
Stevens of F. W. Stephens & Co., a London IAPA member firm.
A week or so later, Clint and Susan Bateman returned to London, where they
visited with Richard and Beverly Stevens, and had a wonderful dinner with
David Turnbull. Following are some pictures commemorating the events.
