The
International Association of Practising Accountants held its annual Executive
Committee Meeting in Windsor, United Kingdom in late June, 2001.
Clint and Susan Bateman attended the meeting; Clint is the U.S. representative
on the seven-person committee. As in 2000, the meeting was held at
the historic Christopher Wren's House Hotel on the banks of the Thames
River, in the very shadow of Windsor Castle.
As always, a good time was had by all on the Committee, as budget items,
recruiting, policy matters, and other similar topics were discussed.
The debate, with representatives from the U.K., the U.S., Canada, New Zealand,
Holland, and Germany was lively and productive.
After
the meeting, Clint and Susan traveled on to London, where Clint met with
Simon Linley of F. W. Stephens & Co., another IAPA member, to discuss
several client matters. Then, they traveled to Spain and Portugal
for a concert tour of the Tallowood Baptist Church Adult Choir, of which
Clint is the current President. The choir presented ten concerts
in ten days, and created a new CD recording of the concert presentations.
After
the concert tour, the Batemans traveled to Paris for several days of R&R
with several other Tallowood choir couples. Clint also liaised with
Jim Speirs and Doug Connell of Fromental Drylie, the IAPA member in Paris.
